EPCOT Flower & Garden Festival

EPCOT
International Flower & Garden Festival
Plein Air Event

EPCOT has invited me again this year to paint in the gardens during the International Flower & Garden Festival. You can find me in Canada Friday March 25 through Sunday March 27, from
9 am to 5 pm each day.

There will be 16 artists painting, 4 in each country. This is a great way to learn more about plein air painting directly from the artists, watch them create a painting and even take one home as a souvenir of your visit to EPCOT.

If you are at the Festival this weekend please find me in Canada and receive a special momento when you mention reading by blog.

Painting Class

The dates for my next painting class has been finalized. This will be a series of 4 classes, 3 hours each from 1 - 4 pm March 16, 23, 30, April 6 at VoilART! Gallery in Ocala. The make-up date is April 27 for anyone who might need to miss one of the scheduled classes.

Emphasis will be on landscapes painted in oil. I will conduct demonstrations and give individual instruction so each artist can build on their current level of skill at their own pace. This is a hands on class so come prepared to paint as I move from student to student.

Painting basics such as value, color, composition and perspective will be emphasized. These elements are the backbone of creating art so students may use the medium and subject of their choice.

Taking all four classes is required. Tuition may be paid per class ($32.50) or save $30.00 and pay $100.00 in advance, that is like getting 1 class free.

The class series is limited to just 6 artists. So, if you are interested please get in touch with me as soon as possible.

Thornebrook Gallery Exhibit/Sale

"Distant Hammock" 15"x25"

My collection of new paintings for the Thornebrook Gallery Exhibit/Sale titled "Southern Exposures" is put to bed. I delivered over 20 paintings yesterday and will bring a few table-top miniatures to the opening Friday.
As I mentioned in a previous blog I am a deadline producer and work like crazy right up to the last minute. One of the paintings was still tacky, having just finished it Tuesday morning. So, I hope you will come by to see my new paintings on exhibit for the first time.

Gallery Exhibit

"Oak Hammock" 12" x 25" Oil on Canvas

This is another painting fresh off the easel that will be in the Thornebrook Gallery exhibit titled "Southern Exposure". The show/sale opens Friday, February 4, 6 - 9 PM and runs through February26.

After many years of painting as a professional artist I have discovered that I am a deadline producer. In other words, the more time I have the less I produce. Although I say I don't like pressure it seems I wait until the last minute to create the paintings needed for a show. When this happens my husband says..."get out of the way Jackie is on a rip!"

Of course, while I am on this "rip" nothing else gets done because I am painting night and day. Thank goodness I have a super husband who can and does fix his own meals and does his own wash when needed.

Well, gotta go.....a blank canvas is waiting!!!!

Thornebrook Gallery Exhibit

"Grace in Shadow" 24" x 18" Oil on Canvas
The new year has begun with shows, festivals and plein air events already scheduled. Adding to that list is a Painting Demonstration for the Ocala Art Group at the Appleton Museum in Ocala and painting classes at VoilART! Gallery.

First up is a show at Thornebrook Gallery in the Thornebrook Mall in Gainesville. Gallery owner David Arrighi has invited me along with the well respected landscape artist Dean Gioia to exhibit our new works in a show titled "Southern Exposure". Opening night is Friday, February 4, 6 - 9 pm during the monthly Art Hop. If you can't come by opening night you can see the show through February 26. This is not just an exhibition...you can add any of the paintings to your collection. The painting above will be in the show.
