Gallery Opening
Sabal Palm Art Gallery & Studio is about to open. The champagne is on ice, the paintings are almost hung and Linda, Margaret and I are about to have a nervous breakdown! Lots of last minute things yet to be done, but we are on schedule.
Jack Thursby hangs his paintings this morning, so if you want a sneak preview come by tomorrow or Wednesday.

Horse Fever
I have been very pleased with my progress on "Horse Feathers". Yes, I have struggled with learning to paint with very fast drying acrylics, having used oils my whole professional career. But all in all it has been fun.
Finishing the last details even on a painting on canvas always seems to drag. And so it is with the horse design. He must be turned in by Sept. 6 but I have given myself a deadline of Monday, Aug. 22.
I show a snippit of the design here just to heighten the excitement and suspense in hopes you will attend the unveiling of all the horses Sept. 29 in Ocala's Hisotric Downtown Square.

Rawlings Vegetable Garden
The title of this painting is "Cabbages and Kings" because of the ornamental cabbage in the center of all those wild flowers. I painted it en plein air in the vegetable garden at the Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings State Park in Cross Creek, Florida.
The park is actually the home and property of Rawlings where she wrote many books including "The Yearling" and "Cross Creek". If you enjoy reading about Florida the way it used to be I recommend these books ... they give you a good idea about what it was like in the beginning.
This painting has hung in my home and I have just put it in my on line auction. Bids start at just 99 cents with a deadline of 6 pm EST Tuesday August 16. It is painted in oil on canvas mounted on board, 8"x10".
